Coventry Airport after teaming up with Thomsonfly, now offers flights to 15 European destinations. Coventry Airport is the main base for budget airline Thomsonfly’s flights across Europe. The lack of cheap flights from competing midland airports meant instant success despite protests from a minority of locals.

Thomsonfly have recently increased the number of flights from Coventry. They have also recently added flights from numerous UK airports, for more information look at UK airports. Thomsonfly offer an interesting selection of flights from Coventry Airport. With a budget airline you expect to have flights to top European destinations like Amsterdam and Paris, but Thomsonfly also offer flights to sunnier climbs like Malaga and Alicante.

Alternatives to Coventry Airports

Security Measure Update 04/10/06: Passengers are now only allowed one items which has to fit the following requirements. 56cm long, 45cm wide, 25cm deep. Handbags count as one item. For some reason any musical instrument that doesn't fit in hand luggage will be permitted as a secondary item. I can't think many people will be carrying musical instruments. Liquids are still limited to essential medicines in liquid form like diabetic kits. And baby milk/food which very strangely must be tasted by the accompanying passenger.

New Security Measures, after an new terrorist threat was uncovered, more stringent security checks are now taking place on all flights in the UK. Passengers will only be allowed to take the following essential items, "e.g. wallets, travel documents, prescription medicines sufficient for the flight, spectacles without cases, contact lens holders but no solution, baby food and milk but this must be tasted by the accompanying passenger, sanitary items sufficient for the flight, tissues unboxed and keys but no electical key fobs.Essential items should be carried in clear plastic bags."Whilst this seems excessive we can all appreciate that this is done for our benefit.

Coventry airport is now under new ownership. At a press conference held on the 5th of January West Midlands International Airport Limited (WMIAL) confirmed that Coventry airport was under new ownership. TUI have sold 100% of their ownership of the airport to CAFCO (Coventry) Limited (CAFCO-C). The airport will continue operations as normal and the WMIAL declared they would continue to pursue the development plans for the airport, which include the purposed mega terminal (see below).

Coventry airport chiefs have rejected a bid for the airport from local rivals Birmingham Airport. It has been predicted that the asking price, thought to be about £30 million pounds was deemed by local rivals at Birmingham to be too expensive. The Chairman of the airport has stated that the decision to accept offers of bids for the airport will not affect the flights of TUI (Thomsonfly) from the airport.
